Email confirmation prior to event

The first event I attended was the cosmological elements #1 space and art event that took place on April 21st, which was extremely intriguing. I truly enjoyed the works and art displayed by the artists in the event and I even went on their websites to check out more. I like how they use art and science together to create mesmerizing artwork. It is amazing how they turn visuals into photography. This is something I plan on using when designing my project for the midterm. The event discusses the idea of cosmological elements through several lenses. Looking at the diverse ways of interpreting cosmological elements also gives an opportunity to explore where human appreciation and awe of space comes from, what drives visions about space, and scientific investigation, how scientific discoveries enable new visions and at the same time brings us back to the human relationship with cosmological elements which these artists have (Long 2022). Below is a picture of one of my favorite artworks shown in the presentation that was designed by Anna Hoetjes. According to Anna, the installation shows the moment that the balance between inner- and outer pressure is disrupted and a super-pressure balloon in space explodes (Hoetjes 2021).

After researching the artists, I found Eli Joteva's work to be my favorite. All of her artwork is especially captivating and she uses art, science, and technology in many of her work. For example, her biogram blueprints is a body of work that explores the digitalization of organic structures through the invisible spectrum of light. In the picture below, you can see the compelling blueprints she created. At its core, the production process uses measurement techniques from the two ends just outside the visible light spectrum of light to contemplate the relationship between the visible and invisible, the virtual and actual. The 3D capturing involves IR depth laser scanning technology to compute digital data points of spatial information about the physical dimensions of four live plants (Joteva 2018). Overall, I am grateful to have experienced such a wonderful event and I am even attending the second cosmological elements event tomorrow, which I look forward to. I recommend these events to everyone, as you get to experience something very unique while also completing the requirements for the course.
